Course Outcomes
Graduates of this program will be able to:
- Safely carry, operate, and maintain revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, and shotguns
- Apply use-of-force legislation, licensing obligations, and ethical decision-making

- Employ defensive tactics and situational control under operational pressure
- Perform live-fire drills and respond effectively during realistic tactical scenarios
- Maintain workplace safety, operational discipline, and professional documentation
These outcomes prepare participants for employment as lawful, competent armed security officers.
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
- Hold a current QLD Security Officer (Unarmed) licence or meet OFT eligibility requirements
- Meet the minimum age requirement set by the Office of Fair Trading
- Provide valid photo identification
- Possess sufficient English, literacy, and numeracy skills for safe firearms handling
- Be physically fit to safely participate in defensive tactics training and range activities
Units of Competency
This qualification includes the following nationally recognised units:
Core Operational Units
- CPPSEC3101 – Manage conflict and security risks through negotiation
- CPPSEC3102 – Maintain operational safety and security of work environment
- CPPSEC3103 – Determine and implement response to security risk situation
Firearms & Tactical Control Units
- CPPSEC3114 – Control security risk situations using firearms
- CPPSEC3115 – Carry, operate and maintain revolvers for security purposes
- CPPSEC3116 – Carry, operate and maintain semi-automatic pistols for security purposes
- CPPSEC3117 – Carry, operate and maintain shotguns for security purposes
- CPPSEC3131 – Conduct security officer handover procedures
These units meet national training and regulatory requirements for armed security licensing in Australia.

Course Fees
- $1350 – Firearms and Defensive Tactics only
- $1500 – Firearms and Defensive Tactics + Cash-In-Transit
Payment Plans:
- Pay-as-you-go: 4 instalments (see Course Fees brochure for details)
- Two split payments: 50% upfront, 50% before certificate issuance
Additional Fees:
- Assessment re-submission: $50 per assessment after two failed attempts
- Re-enrolment fees:
- 25% of course cost (within 3 months of cancellation)
- 50% of course cost (within 4–12 months of cancellation)
Licensing Requirements
Successful completion of this program meets the mandatory training requirements for obtaining a Queensland Armed Security Officer licence endorsement, as regulated under the Security Providers Act 1993 (QLD).
Participants receive a Certificate for all listed units, which must be submitted to the Office of Fair Trading when applying for or upgrading to an armed security licence.
