Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:
- Lead and coordinate first aid responses in complex or high-risk environments
- Perform CPR and use an AED in accordance with ARC standards
- Provide advanced first aid treatment for serious injuries and medical conditions
- Manage spinal, head, and neck injuries; severe bleeding; fractures; environmental emergencies; and envenomation
- Conduct advanced patient assessments and manage multiple casualties
- Apply infection control, reporting procedures, and legal responsibilities
- Communicate effectively during critical incidents and provide post-incident psychological support
Graduates will be equipped to act as senior or designated first aid officers.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal academic prerequisites.
Participants must:
- Be physically capable of performing CPR on the floor for at least 2 minutes
- Provide valid photo ID
- Have sufficient English language skills to complete training and assessment
Learners holding current HLTAID009 and HLTAID011 may complete an upgrade pathway focusing solely on HLTAID014.
Units of Competency
This course includes the following nationally recognised units:
- HLTAID014 – Provide Advanced First Aid
- HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
Upgrade pathway available for students already holding HLTAID009 and HLTAID011.

Training includes realistic, scenario-based activities focused on leadership and critical decision-making.
Future Training Options
This course provides a pathway toward advanced first aid and emergency response qualifications, including:
- HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy
- HLTAID016 – Manage First Aid Services and Resources
- Higher-level security, emergency response, and risk management training
It meets WHS requirements for workplace first aid officers and emergency coordinators.

Licensing Requirements
There are no external licensing requirements for HLTAID014; however, the qualification is commonly required for supervisors, first aid officers, and staff operating in high-risk workplaces.
Certification is valid for 3 years, with annual CPR refreshers required under ARC guidelines.
