Cash-In-Transit (CIT) Skill Set

Participants who complete this program will gain the ability to:

  • Inspect, test, and prepare CIT vehicles and protective equipment
  • Conduct secure loading, unloading, and transport of cash and valuables
  • Apply situational awareness, threat identification, and risk mitigation techniques
  • Coordinate effectively within a team during high-pressure operations
  • Follow legal, ethical, and organisational procedures
  • Respond to emergencies, incidents, and operational hazards
  • Complete reporting and post-operation documentation

Graduates will be operationally prepared for real-world CIT roles.

Participants must:

  • Hold a current Queensland Security Officer (Unarmed) licence
  • Meet all Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT) eligibility requirements
  • Provide valid photo identification
  • Be physically capable of performing manual handling and operational tasks
  • Have sufficient English language, literacy, and numeracy skills for safety and communication requirements

This nationally recognised skill set includes the following units:

  • CPPSEC3118 – Inspect and test cash-in-transit security equipment
  • CPPSEC3119 – Carry and protect valuables in transit
  • CPPSEC3120 – Load and unload cash-in-transit in a secured environment

These units form the essential foundation for lawful, safe, and efficient CIT operations.

      • Duration: Typically delivered over 2–3 days
        Format:

        • Face-to-face classroom training
        • Practical skills development
        • Scenario-based CIT simulations
          Locations:
          Training conducted at approved Defensive Solutions Australia and Asset College facilities across Queensland.

Completion of this skill set contributes toward higher-level security qualifications, including:

  • CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations
  • CPP31418 Certificate III in Close Protection Operations
  • CPP40719 Certificate IV in Security Management

Graduates may also progress to:

  • Armed Cash-In-Transit (CIT) training
  • Tactical operations training
  • Leadership and advanced operational security programs

      • $275.00 – Fee for Service
        (Includes training, assessment, resources, and issuance of a Statement of Attainment.)

This skill set meets the training requirements for endorsement to perform cash-in-transit duties in Queensland under the Security Providers Act 1993 (QLD).
Successful participants will receive a Certificate for the three units, which must be submitted to the Office of Fair Trading when applying for or updating their CIT licence endorsement.
